Apparently, Squaw is offensive. To whom, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure the native Indians aren't losing sleep over it. In fact, it means "woman" or "wife" in Algonquian. It's like the stewardess demanding to be called a flight attendant. To this day, I cannot figure out what is offensive about "stewardess" which originates from "steward" : someone who waits on and is responsible for the comfort of passengers.Marquitanoreply@blogger.com
